Resume Mistakes That Cost You Interviews and How to Fix Them
Small resume mistakes can make strong candidates look less relevant than they are. Most are fixable once you know what recruiters and screening systems are trying to understand.

Using bullets that describe tasks but not impact
A bullet that only lists a task can feel incomplete. Recruiters want to know what you handled, how you did it, and what changed because of your work.
Turn responsibilities into evidence by adding scale, tools, customers, speed, quality, revenue, savings, accuracy, or collaboration. Even one concrete detail can make a bullet stronger.
Sending the same resume to every job
A general resume can miss the language and priorities of a specific role. If the employer is hiring for customer onboarding, your resume should not bury onboarding experience under unrelated details.
Before applying, adjust your summary, skills, and strongest bullets around the job description. The goal is relevance, not exaggeration.
Making the design harder than the content
Overdesigned resumes can create problems for both ATS tools and busy recruiters. Icons, charts, unusual columns, and dense blocks of text can distract from your actual qualifications.
Use design to support clarity. Strong spacing, consistent headings, and readable bullets usually do more for your application than decorative elements.
